Milestone awarded Deloitte Fast 500 award

Deloitte European Technology Fast 500 Rankings for 2003 include Milestone.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, 9 March 2004

The Award Ceremony of the 2003 Deloitte European Technology Fast 500 was held at the Natural History Museum in London in December 2003. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu’s 2003 European Technology Fast 500 ranking reveals the newest leaders of the European technology industry sectors. The 500 public and private companies on this prestigious ranking have made a remarkable achievement: They have earned the distinction of being the fastest-growing companies based on the objective factor of five-year revenue growth within the technology sector.

"The technology companies that have made the rankings will be creating a community of companies that promote a platform of best practices around the globe, as well as creating the best global forum for business leaders to share information," says Karel Bakkes, partner in charge of Deloitte’s 2003 European Technology Fast 500 program.

Milestone Systems A/S was chosen for having achieved a 416% growth rate over the past five years. A developer of intelligent solutions for networked digital video surveillance, Milestone Systems makes software designed with open architecture, providing the flexibility to support the leading manufacturers of video cameras and computer servers connected to a LAN, WAN or the Internet. Milestone solutions are operating on 35,000 cameras globally, in a wide scope of industries from retail businesses to financial, educational and governmental institutions. Based out of Denmark, Milestone works with a qualified channel of 150 reseller partners in 50 countries.

Standing in good company

Milestone Systems shares the honor of being named along with such illustrious companies as Tiscali in Italy, Netsize in France, Nordnet in Sweden, Host Europe in the UK, Freenet.de in Germany, Schema in Israel and Allatel in Czech Republic. French companies took the lead overall with 171 firms listed, followed by the UK and Norway as the next-best ranked for number of companies included.

Less than ten Danish companies made the list along with Milestone, including IO Interactive A/S (the game developers of Hitman and Freedom Fighters), TIA Technology A/S, and IMS Learning A/S. The Deloitte IT Growth Barometer 2003 showed that 4 out of 10 technology companies in Denmark experienced 'serious financial hardship' since the beginning of the new millennium, so these rankings are even more impressive seen in that light. Furthermore, contrary to many of the other ranked companies, Milestone Systems has achieved its growth without external financing: this shows the strength of their business model and increasing maturity in the video-over-IP market.

Against the odds of hard times

Deloitte's brochure on the Fast 500 Ranking states: "Despite the harsh conditions, some companies in the technology area have not only survived but shown phenomenal growth. Organized by Deloitte's TMT industry group, the Technology Fast 500 is a ranking of the fastest growing European technology companies, designed to identify these exceptional firms and celebrate their success." They furthermore claim: "They are the companies that rally behind innovation. They break down obstacles. And systematically defy the odds."
