There are two main ways software companies extol their virtues: by highlighting unique and impressive features and by claiming unique stability and reliability. The first of those things you can measure; the company either offers the feature or it doesn’t (whether it works correctly is another matter, but we’ll get to that). The second of those things is harder to measure. What does “stable” mean? What does “reliable” mean? How do you compare one company’s stability and reliability with another’s?
