Anixter to host Security IP Convergence Seminars across Europe

Presentations to include IP video software from Milestone Systems.

October 2006 - Anixter International Inc., the world’s leading distributor of communication products, electrical and electronic wire & cable, will host a series of Pan-EMEA Security IP Convergence Seminars kicking off during the month of October.

Anixter will deliver presentations at the seminar covering IP convergence in the security market and how convergence is affecting the cabling infrastructure that supports security systems. Delegates will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of networking concepts, standards, cable management and testing. The seminar will hit more than 20 cities across Europe.

IT and Security integrators, consultants and contractors are invited to the seminars, which will include two 45-minute educational sessions. The first session will review the infrastructure required to support video surveillance over IP networks using open platform IP video software including products by Milestone Systems. Standards affecting networking infrastructure and best practices for analogue, hybrid and digital surveillance systems will also feature in the first presentation. The second presentation explores a "real world" security design and build scenario, and the complex issues companies face as they build or upgrade security systems, particularly IP-ready systems.

Participants will have a chance to ask questions during the Q&A session after each presentation, and have an opportunity to sign-up for additional one-to-one follow up appointments. The purpose of these sessions is to offer the integrators an opportunity to get more detailed, hands-on training on specific topics and products covered in the seminar.

"There are currently no written standards in today’s security cabling infrastructure market, and that is why Anixter is moving forward to provide a more structured and standardised approach, and suggested best practices through our upcoming Security IP Convergence Seminars," says Pedro Cantinho, Anixter Security Sales & Marketing VP, EMEA.

Anixter has also announced that a copy of the Anixter IP Surveillance Guide will be available to all delegates. The guide explains the migration path IP surveillance technology is taking. We recommend ways you can prepare for the future by understanding the trends in security systems, creating a migration plan and reinforcing current infrastructure for the inevitable appearance of IP surveillance.
