We are seeing some obvious trends right now. One is the move from client/server to cloud and balancing on-premise versus off-premise. The other is AI and automation — using technology to automate otherwise human processes. Then there’s the IoT trend; it’s not just cameras but other connected devices we need to be thinking about. And the fourth trend is making open easy, which is always a challenge in an industry that’s not laden with standards, so the innovations we see with the Open Security & Safety Alliance (OSSA) and Security and Safety Things (SAST) are promising.
According to threat researcher, Avast, India has the most connected security cameras, accounting for a third (34.3%) of all smart home devices in India, with 45.6% of them prone to cyber-attacks. Also, the emergence of Smart Cities, is a trillion-dollar market globally. In India, the ever-increasing requirement for safety and security of citizens, coupled with the boom in smart cities has led to a rise of the security and surveillance market in the country.
What according to you will be the ‘New Normal’ in the security sector post Covid-19? What are Milestones plans in India post unlocking?
Video solutions have already provided COVID-frontline workers with much respite by increasing efficiencies and taking on labour-intensive tasks. Applications such as thermal imaging cameras are being deployed at facilities such as airports, train stations and immigration checkpoints to quickly identify people with fever. Combined with video analytics capabilities, these active assets could process multiple individuals simultaneously, increasing efficiency and reducing labour requirements.
Our roadmap for the coming months will be a vertical-focused approach combined with technology integrations and marketplace adoption.
At the same time, we will be looking at expanding our workforce to increase our commitment to our partner communities and customers. Milestone India has also made significant investments in improving its workplace infrastructure in the country. We have further plans of expanding our Bangalore workspace to a larger area along with setting up a Customer Experience Centres and Custom-Development Operation. However, as we grapple with the challenges on COVID at a national level, we will be prepared to adjust our pace of operations accordingly.
