At the annual Milestone Integration Platform Symposium (MIPS) held last week in Las Vegas, executives from some of the largest video surveillance hardware manufacturers took part in a panel discussion focused on the state of the industry. Among those on the panel included; Scott Schafer, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Arecont Vision; Tom Cook, vice president of sales, Samsung; Brian Wiser, president of sales, Americas, Bosch; Masahiro (Matt) Soga, senior vice president of business development, Sony; and Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications. The topics discussed ranged from how companies are differentiating products in a crowded marketplace to eroding IP product margins for systems integrators.
