COPENHAGEN – May 2, 2016.
Over 200 participants attended the first Milestone Partner Open Platform Days (MPOP) for the German, Austrian and Swiss regions (DACH) April 6-7th in Stuttgart, Germany. The industry event brought together hardware manufacturers, software manufacturers, and users of digital safety video. It was held in the Mercedes Benz Arena. In Milestone’s new community concept, participants were able to share and discover new developments in Milestone’s open platform technology as well as check news, trends, and visions in the field of safety video.
Together new ground can be broken to advance the industry. This approach was the gist of the opening speeches by Kenneth Hune Petersen, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at Milestone Systems, and Thomas Lausten, Vices President Sales, EMEA at Milestone Systems. The company will expand on the traditional ways of the market and go one step further in raising the business to a new level by emphasizing the partner community. In the course of this transition from open platform company to open platform community, there will soon be a developer forum, e-learning for SDK (Software Development Kit), and a partner marketplace on Milestone’s homepage. In addition, the contributions of solution partners will be certified to ensure total integration and uniform look and feel.
"In our view MPOP was more than successful and was a great start for the open platform community in Germany," says Christian Ringler, Milestone Director, Southern European Territory (SET) and DACH region. "Both for our solution partners and guests as well as our own staff, it was a great opportunity to make new contacts and to collect suggestions."
On the first day of the event, highlights of the new version of video management software (VMS), XProtect 2016, were presented. Participants were also informed about new training opportunities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland through Arry Security GmbH & Co. KG., Milestone’s strategic partnership for professional training. Another highlight was "speed dating" where solution partners could hold individual discussions with employees of Milestone Systems.
Trends in IP video
In a panel discussion, different producers, along with Christian Ringler, discussed the development of the digital security camera market. Here, was a strong consensus that picture quality will be further improved by open solutions and that cloud abilities will also play an important role. Other topics of interest were market consolidation among camera manufacturers and the development of a video processor with H.265 standard.
On the second day, Milestone Systems informed about further developments in the Husky series of smart appliances running Milestone VMS software. In addition, Milestone Systems announced that there will be two more software releases in 2016.
