The TS-hx77A series is a rackmount NAS from 2U and above, powered by AMD Ryzen 7000-series CPU and DDR5 ECC memory. It features 12 ~ 30 drive bays, dual 10GbE, dual 2.5GbE, and PCIe Gen4 slots for flexible expansion. Ideal for SMB/iSCSI storage in surveillance and virtualization workloads.

The QNAP TS‑hxA series is a high-performance enterprise NAS in a 2U and above rackmount form factor, tailored for demanding Tier‑2 storage, virtualization, 4K video workflows, and PB-scale deployments and support up to 128 GB (4×32 GB) DDR5 (including ECC) for robust multitasking.It features 12 ~ 30 hot-swappable SATA 3.5"/2.5" drive bays, dual M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 5 ×2 slots for NVMe SSD caching or storage pools, and three PCIe Gen 4 slots for expansion cards such as 25/10 GbE, SAS/SATA controllers, or GPU/Fibre Channel cards.
Networking includes two 10GBASE‑T and two 2.5GbE RJ45 ports, supporting port trunking and jumbo frames for high-throughput and resilient connectivity.
This system supports up to 5,000 concurrent CIFS connections (with maximum RAM), features long-term availability (support expected through 2030), and allows PB-scale expansion by connecting up to eight 24-bay JBOD enclosures which can be one of the the best storage option for keep surveillance footages.

How it works

Following the guide, you can connect the NAS as an iSCSI storage on Windows. After mounting the drive, it can be recognized by XProtect like a local storage device.

It is possible to create multiple LUNs on the QNAP NAS and assign them to different devices.

The Windows system will consider the device as local storage. QNAP NASes provide fast network interfaces to meet the high-speed requirement for a large number of camera recordings.
