Once you purchase an XProtect license, you have the right to use it indefinitely, rather than for a subscription term. Pricing depends on the XProtect variant and the number of connected devices (cameras, sensors, etc.) within the deployment. Each XProtect variant provides different levels of functionality and scalability.

XProtect integrates with many third-party security products while also offering extensions such as license plate recognition, video summarization, and evidence management. Why aren't prices listed?

Milestone does not sell directly to customers. Instead, we sell through a network of authorized system integrators and resellers. As such, we legally cannot list any prices, because we do not set the final price. That said, if you need a quote, we can always coordinate with a local reseller.

How does licensing work?

For the core video management software, you have one XProtect base license which is associated with your selected variant as well as a supported number of devices. While you pay based on how many devices (cameras, encoders, sensors, etc.) you have, a single license code covers activating all devices, so you don't have to activate them one by one. You can add additional device licenses at any point as your system grows.

Additional licensing, such as Care or any extensions, is also based on the number of devices. While you can use your XProtect base license and any extension licenses indefinitely, you need Care Plus to be able to keep the software up-to-date. Care licenses need to be renewed.

Who should I contact to purchase XProtect?

Milestone products are purchased through authorized partners. If you're interested in XProtect, a Milestone partner can help assess your requirements, recommend the appropriate solution and provide pricing.

For existing deployments, your partner should also be your primary point of contact for licensing, purchasing and support-related questions. However, we can also help coordinate with a partner to get you a quote if you fill out the form on this page.

Why is Care Plus mandatory in year one for XProtect Corporate customers?

Care Plus is mandatory for the first year of using XProtect Corporate, our most advanced variant, to ensure adequate coverage and stability during the critical initial roll-out period.

Can I get Care Premium but not Care Plus?

No, as Care Premium extends the benefits of Care Plus by adding direct, 24/7 prioritized customer support.

What is the trade in program?

The trade-in program, which is included in Care Plus, lets you upgrade to a more advanced XProtect variant (e.g., XProtect Professional+ to Expert) and receive 100% credit for your existing license toward the new purchase.

I'm taking over an existing XProtect deployment. How can I obtain pricing?

If you are an authorized partner, you can contact your dedicated Milestone representative about a project. If you are not an authorized partner, your options are either to:

1) Get authorized to sell Milestone products, or

2) Purchase from a local reseller who is authorized.

Milestone cannot sell to to unauthorized partners, even if it's an expansion for an existing customer.

Do you offer trial licenses?

Yes, Milestone offers pilot licenses for customers who want to experience XProtect in their own environment before making an investment. Pilot licenses are available for up to four months and are granted on a case-by-case basis, subject to qualification criteria. Once you're connected with a local reseller, they can help assess suitability and guide you through getting a pilot license.

I'm interested in becoming a technology partner. Can I receive a test license?

Joining our Developer Community is a good first step if you are considering building integrations for XProtect. Once approved, developers can access the resources, tools, and licensing needed to develop and test integrations with Milestone products.
