XProtect Central System Overview

XProtect Central is a server-based central monitoring and alarm handling system. It enables the operator(s) to monitor the health of multiple XProtect Enterprise and XProtect Corporate installations. Through integration with other security systems, XProtect Central can also handle alarms from 3rd party systems.

Description 

Central Server

The XProtect Server connects to the XProtect Enterprise and/or XProtect Corporate server and receives all events.
 
Events are generated from cameras, but also from the server itself (diskspace etc) and from connected input/out devices.

The events are filtered in Central, enabling the operator to focus on the most important ones. Events are then converted to alarms in Central.

Alarms are categorized in 2:

System Health
For example:

  • Server online/offline
  • Disk space running out
  • Archive failure

Device Alarms
For example:

  • Motion detected on camera
  • Door open
  • Intruder alarm activated

Central Client

The XProtect Central Client is the tool used by the operator to connect to the Central server to display and handle alarms.

The Client installs on a standard PC platform.

It enables the operator to:

  • Display multi-level maps (GIF og JPEG)
  • Drag'n drop alarm elements - server, devices and cameras
  • Visually see status of servers and devices/cameras
  • Drill down through map layers by clicking on devices
