From entertainment venues and residential communities to airports and government facilities, an innovative partnership between Puerto Rican security integrator Genesis, AI analytics provider Actuate, and Milestone Systems is transforming how organizations across the island achieve optimized video and remote monitoring.
Puerto Rico's unique challenges presented an opportunity to pioneer a new approach to security. Rather than deploying separate systems for each client, integrator Genesis Security built a centralized monitoring operation serving multiple sectors simultaneously. Milestone Systems' XProtect Corporate video management software (VMS) is integrated with Actuate's cloud-based AI analytics designed specifically for remote video monitoring (RVM).
As a result, Genesis achieved a 62% reduction in daily alerts—from 96,000 to 37,000—while reducing monitoring staff by over 75% and significantly improving threat response times.
Genesis operates a central monitoring center serving clients across entertainment facilities, residential communities, airports, and other critical infrastructure throughout Puerto Rico. Before integrating AI-driven analytics, operators faced an overwhelming flood of motion-based alerts: more than 96,000 daily notifications from thousands of cameras. This volume made it nearly impossible to identify genuine threats quickly. The company needed a solution to filter noise, reduce false alarms, and enable a smaller team to monitor more locations effectively across diverse clients without compromising response times or security quality.
Genesis partnered with Actuate to integrate cloud-based AI threat detection with their existing Milestone XProtect Corporate VMS infrastructure. The open platform approach allowed Genesis to connect cameras from multiple manufacturers, including Axis Communications, and Uniview Technology, while adding Actuate's intelligent filtering through Milestone's protocol integration and Open Network Bridge capabilities. This combination enabled Genesis to pull video streams from distributed sites across Puerto Rico, process them through AI models for intrusion detection, loitering, gun detection, and crowd monitoring, then push verified alerts back into the Milestone event server for operator review.
Genesis officials report that the integrated solution has reduced alerts reaching operators by 62 percent, from over 96,000 daily notifications to approximately 37,000 actionable events. This filtering enabled Genesis to optimize staffing, operating with just 10 monitoring center personnel compared to the 40 to 50 previously required.
Response times improved since operators could focus on genuine threats rather than sorting through false alarms. The system's ability to identify specific threat types - from weapons to unauthorized intrusions - provides faster, more precise emergency protocols across all monitored facilities throughout the island.
