Evidian SafeKit software brings high availability to Milestone XProtect. In case of failure, there is an automatic failover of Milestone XProtect on a secondary server. And SafeKit replicates in real-time the SQL database. The SafeKit cluster does not require shared disk or specific virtuatization.

SafeKit Redundancy: Replication & Failover Cluster - The simplest high availability cluster with real-time replication and failover without shared disk
Evidian SafeKit allows to implement quickly a Milestone cluster with real-time file replication and automatic failover of the management services and the SQL database. The product is simple and avoids complexity of other failover clusters: no need for external storage, domain controller configuration or specific virtualization. A free trial of SafeKit and a milestone.safe high availability module are offered to implement the solution in less than 1 hour.This clustering solution is recognized as the simplest to implement by our Milestone partners. It is also a complete solution that solves hardware failures (20% of problems) including the complete failure of a computer room, software failures (40% of problems) including smooth update server by server and human errors (40% of problems) thanks to its simplicity of configuration and administration.
Thus, Safekit solves at the same time business continuity and disaster recovery for Milestone XProtect with a real-time backup.

How it works

On evidian.com, download and install the SafeKit package + the milestone.safe module on 2 XProtect nodes. Works with Windows for server and PC, with physical or virtual machines.

Follow carefully the configuration instructions, especially on the virtual IP address for a correct execution with the IDP authentication server of Milestone.

Start the SafeKit web console in a browser on node1 or node2 or on an external workstation. And install the milestone.safe module (configurable with any edition of Milestone XProtect and SQL server).

node1 is ALONE green and runs XProtect services. Now start node2 to replicate in real-time the folders configured in milestone.safe and containing SQL data (synchronous block-level file replication).

The cluster is operational. In case of node 1 failure (hardware, network, software or planned maintenance), all services will be restarted on node 2.
