A Milestone Mobile user is added the same way as any other user. See the Administrator’s Manual for the relevant XProtect product for more information on how to add users through the XProtect Management Client/Management Application.

10. Why is the image quality sometimes poor when viewing video in Milestone Mobile?

The Milestone Mobile server component automatically adjusts the image quality according to available bandwidth. If you experience lower image quality compared to the XProtect® Smart Client, you might have too little bandwidth to get full resolution images in Milestone Mobile. The reason for this can be either too little upstream bandwidth from the server or too little downstream bandwidth on the application.

11. Can I use Milestone Mobile without a 3G data plan?

Yes. You can use Milestone Mobile with any data connection including Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G connections. Please note that using Milestone Mobile without a data plan from your cellular provider may incur an additional cost. Furthermore, the bandwidth on public networks may vary and may affect the image quality of the video. See FAQ #10 for more information on image quality.

12. How do I change the language of the Milestone Mobile client?

The language of the Milestone Mobile client is automatically set to the language of your device.

For example, if your language of your device is set to French, Milestone Mobile will be in French. If you want to change the language of Milestone Mobile to another language, you must do so in the Milestone Mobile application (Please note that this capability is only available for Android).

Alternatively, you can change the language of your device. However, you must then shut down and restart Milestone Mobile in order for the language change to take effect.

Please note, that to use Milestone Mobile in Hindi, your device must support this language.

13. Are there any differences between Milestone Mobile for Android and for iOS?

In general, you will find the same functionality in Milestone Mobile for Android as you will in the version for iOS.

However, some functionality is found in different places in the Android version compared to in the iOS version, due to differences in device functionality and operating systems.

Watch the product demonstration to learn more about the functionality of Milestone Mobile for Android and iOS.

14. How do I set up Video Push?

To use Video Push and send a video sequence from your device's camera to your XProtect video management system, you must add a Video Push channel to the Milestone Mobile Server component and afterwards add the Video Push driver as a hardware device in your Management Application/Client. For information on how to set this up, see the Milestone Mobile Administrator's Manual.

Once this is set up successfully, you must log on to the Milestone Mobile Server with your Milestone Mobile client and select the Video Push icon. This turns your device's camera into a view. Tap the Record button (Android)/ Push button (iOS) to begin recording video. To stop recording, tap the Stop Recording button (Android)/ Stop  button (iOS).

15. How do I set up and use output and even triggering?

Outputs and events are set up in your Management Application/Client. For information on how to set this up, see the Administrator's Guide for your XProtect system.

You can trigger outputs and events from two places in your Milestone Mobile client:

Either, click the output and events icon (lightning icon) to display a list of outputs and events for all cameras added to your XProtect video management system. Tap the relevant output or event to trigger it.

Alternatively, open a single camera's camera view and tap the outputs and events icon to see a list of outputs and events associated with the relevant camera. Tap the relevant output or event to trigger it.

16. How do I set up Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS)?

You set up a secure HTTPS in your Milestone Mobile server. Find the relevant server > Info Tab. Under Connection Type, select which type of connection you want, either HTTP only, HTTPS and HTTP, or HTTPS only.

If your Milestone Mobile Server uses HTTPS, you must turn on Secure Connection when you add/edit the Milestone Mobile Server in your Milestone Mobile client. By default, this is not turned on.

17. How do I use the recording list?

In the Milestone Mobile client, open the relevant camera in full screen and enter playback mode. From here, tap your device's context menu button (Android)/ Menu button (iOS) > Recent History. A list of recent recordings are shown, indicating time and date for when the video sequence was recorded. The most recent recordings are listed at the top.
