Making the argument for video-enabled physical security
We introduced our first access control integration in 2014, and since then we have added over 30 solution integrations that make it possible for Milestone customers to combine their video and physical security systems in one interface. Even though we’ve been doing this for a while, we find we still have to make the case for video-enabled physical security. What are the key benefits and how can we convince customers to make this jump?
Video enabling physical security presents five key benefits:
Higher security – being able to tie a face with an entrance or an exit helps customers ensure that everyone is where they should be, and ensure that restricted access areas are just that.
More efficient workflows – being able to access multiple systems from one interface means less training, less time spent switching from one application to another and a reduced possibility of errors.
More thorough investigations – each access event is stored together with the corresponding video, which can then be saved and/or exported in pdf format. This is ideal for reviewing footage after an incident occurs or for sending evidence to law enforcement agencies.
Easier multi-site management – Using XProtect® Access as the base, customers can integrate several access control systems covering multiple locations into their VMS, giving control room operators a complete overview of company premises.
Better return on investment – Customers are free to select the access control system that fits their budget and needs. It also means that customers can upgrade the systems independent of each other, optimizing their investment lifecycle.
