Milestone Secures Scandinavian Department Stores

Milestone video software monitors all of Åhléns 75 department stores in Sweden. It provides staff with situational awareness and a way to easily document incidents, prevent loss and heighten security for staff and visitors.

At Åhléns, excellent service is top priority. Employees are dedicated to assisting customers at the checkout counters, and few resources are earmarked loss prevention. To accommodate security needs, Milestone Partner Nokas designed and implemented Milestone XProtect® video management software at all Åhléns stores in Sweden. In larger stores, an operator provides proactive incident prevention. In smaller stores, visual evidence enables easy documentation of incidents.

The company previously used analog security video in stand-alone setup to prevent losses and provide documentation of incidents. These analog systems are now being phased out for networked video based on Milestone XProtect Expert or XProtect Enterprise. The ease of providing documentation of incidents in the VMS has been a benefit to Åhléns, compared to the cumbersome process in the old analog system.

The use of Milestone XProtect allows us to do exactly that, while at the same time giving us user friendliness that enables effective handling of incidents,” says Anders Lundqvist, Security Manager, Åhléns AB.

The project team has been handling the installation of the security infrastructure and the Milestone software in multiple locations all over Sweden, in tight collaboration with Åhléns security team. “We have an excellent collaboration with Milestone, enabling us to provide the optimal solution to our customers. The open platform technology from Milestone gives us the ability to meet the needs of the market now and in the future,” says Alex Holmström, Sales Manager at Nokas Teknik.
