XProtect Professional VMS servers (explained)

This section is only relevant if:

• your system does not use IPv6, and
• you have installations with XProtect Professional VMS version 7.0 or later.

In all other cases, use Milestone Federated Architecture or Milestone Interconnect.

You can add XProtect Professional VMS servers to your XProtect VMS system. When added, the servers act as recording servers and their video can be viewed by the clients.

In the Management Client, you can see the status of added XProtect Professional VMS servers. You must still define all XProtect Professional VMS server settings (cameras, scheduling, user rights etc.) in XProtect Professional VMS’s Management Application. See the XProtect Professional VMS documentation.

To give users access to video from XProtect Professional VMS servers, you must match roles in XProtect VMS with user rights defined on the XProtect Professional VMS servers.
