Milestone Systems today highlighted an update to Hanwha Vision's integration plug-in for Milestone XProtect, adding Similarity Search, a new investigative tool that helps operators locate visually similar objects across recorded video. The update is available for cameras powered by the Hanwha Wisenet 9 chipset.
Similarity Search is built for after-the-fact investigation. Starting from a single image of a person or vehicle, operators can search recorded video to find visually similar subjects across large volumes of footage, cutting down the time it takes to piece together a timeline or track movement across a site. It works alongside the plug-in's existing attribute search tools for person, vehicle, license plate, and barcode search, as well as Road AI for vehicle make, model, color, and country of registration.
The plug-in's live capabilities, including camera control, PTZ and thermal functions, IP audio and intercom, and real-time analytics overlays such as intelligent video analytics events and virtual lines, remain separate from Similarity Search and continue to operate within the same XProtect interface.
Milestone XProtect is open platform video management software that lets organizations combine cameras and AI tools from multiple manufacturers within a single system. The Hanwha Vision plug-in brings the AI analytics built into Hanwha Vision cameras directly into XProtect, so operators can search, monitor, and control cameras without adding a separate system.
