Stronger, more connected security operations with Arcules: Fall 2026

October 22, 2026

Security teams need resilient video, broader situational awareness, and technology that is easier to operate across increasingly connected environments. The Arcules Fall 2026 enhancements address these needs with new capabilities that protect critical video, bring environmental and occupancy insights into security workflows, improve local video performance, simplify hybrid operations, and strengthen device communication. Together, these updates help organizations improve visibility, simplify administration, and build more connected security operations across cloud, edge, and hybrid environments.

Cloud backup for edge gateways

Keeping critical video available is essential, but sending full-resolution recordings continuously to the cloud can increase bandwidth and storage requirements. Cloud Backup for Edge Gateways provides a more efficient approach by securely backing up a lower-resolution secondary stream in the cloud while retaining full-resolution recordings locally. This gives organizations an off-site video copy that can support retention, compliance, and disaster-recovery requirements if local recordings become unavailable, while minimizing bandwidth and cloud storage consumption.

Triton smart sensor integration

Not every condition that matters to a security team is visible through a camera. Triton Smart Sensor Integration brings environmental and occupancy sensor data into Arcules, extending awareness to conditions such as air quality, temperature, humidity, noise, smoke, vaping, and people counts. Sensor readings can be used to trigger rules, notifications, and alarms, with associated camera views providing additional video context. This gives operators another source of information to identify conditions that require attention and respond with a clearer understanding of what is happening.

Unified Milestone interface

Organizations working across multiple Milestone solutions benefit from a consistent and recognizable experience. The Unified Milestone Interface brings Milestone branding, colors, and design standards to the Arcules web experience, creating a clearer visual connection between Arcules and the broader Milestone portfolio. The refreshed look and feel provides customers and partners with a more cohesive experience while retaining the Arcules cloud capabilities and workflows they already use. It is another step toward making the experience of working across the Milestone portfolio feel more connected and familiar.

Faster local video streaming

When operators are actively monitoring a site, delays opening video or switching between cameras can interrupt the workflow. Faster Local Video Streaming improves access to local live and recorded video with faster stream startup and smoother camera switching. When a direct local connection is available, Arcules can use it to reduce latency and bandwidth consumption, providing a more responsive experience for operators monitoring multiple cameras or reviewing local footage. The result is faster access to the video operators need and a more fluid experience when moving between streams.

Arcules-XProtect operational enhancements

Hybrid environments bring Arcules and XProtect together, and the latest operational enhancements make that integration easier to maintain and manage. Administrators benefit from clearer information during plugin installation and upgrades, dedicated plugin logs, and expanded troubleshooting guidance for diagnosing common integration issues. Role-based alarm access also enables organizations to give non-admin operators visibility into relevant Arcules alarms through XProtect roles and permissions. Together, these improvements can reduce administrative effort, support more efficient troubleshooting, and give operators appropriate access to the alarms needed for their responsibilities.

Secure device communication

Protecting security data also means protecting the connections that carry it. Secure Device Communication automatically establishes HTTPS-encrypted communication between newly added supported devices and gateways during onboarding. This helps protect video, credentials, and device configuration as they move between cameras and gateways. Certificate-based trust also helps the gateway verify device identity on future connections. By applying secure communication automatically when supported, organizations can strengthen device-level security as part of the familiar onboarding process, without introducing another configuration step for administrators.

These Fall 2026 enhancements continue to expand what organizations can accomplish with Arcules across cloud, edge, and hybrid environments. From protecting critical video and expanding awareness beyond the camera to improving local video access, simplifying hybrid administration, and securing device communication, each capability is designed to strengthen day-to-day security operations while helping organizations get more value from their existing infrastructure.
