XProtect Server Requirements Estimator

The Milestone Hardware Estimator helps you quickly estimate the minimum hardware requirements for running an XProtect solution.

The Hardware Estimator is currently based on cameras or video servers using MJPEG images. If you plan to use MPEG4 images, please contact your Milestone Partner.

The Hardware Estimator calculates requirements based entirely on your input, and providing realistic input can be difficult for some to do. We recommend that when specifying numbers, you do so with future system growth options in mind.

All requirements suggested by the Hardware Estimator are minimum requirements.

If the Hardware Estimator produces a result indicating that a single-server scenario might not be sufficient, please contact your Milestone Partner, who will be able to help you estimate requirements of systems of all sizes.

Update the Server Estimator with your inputs:

1	Each XProtect Professional and XProtect Enterprise Remote or Smart Client can show up to 16 cameras simultaneously.
2	Our JPEG compression/decompression routines favor the use of Intel© processors.
3	Hard disk system must be capable of at least a hard disk data rate: 160 Kbytes/s (non-sequential read/write). It is important that the current recordings are performed on a local and fast drive.

Important Notice: The recommended hardware configuration represents our best knowledge based on test results from our technical department. Milestone cannot officially guarantee that the same performance can be achieved in your installation even though the specified hardware is used.
